SINGAPORE, 29 JULY 2024 – Nestlé Singapore has been recognised as a Company of Good (COG) (3 Hearts) by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) for its outstanding contributions and commitment to corporate purpose and impact in Singapore.
The COG Recognition System celebrates organisations at a national level for their commitment to corporate purpose and for making holistic contributions across five impact areas, People, Society, Governance, Environment and Economic. The COG is aligned with the Forward Singapore narrative, where businesses in Singapore contribute to a better nation by bringing their capabilities and assets to support national development.
Nicole Battistessa, Managing Director, Nestlé Singapore said, “We are incredibly honoured and humbled to accept the prestigious Company of Good Award (3 Hearts). This recognition holds a special place in our hearts as it validates our unwavering commitment to unlocking the power of food to enhance the quality of life for every person in Singapore, both now and for future generations. At Nestlé Singapore, we firmly believe that doing good and doing business are inseparable. It is the very essence of who we are and what we strive for every day. We understand the vital role we play in ensuring the long-term health and well-being of all Singaporeans. Hence, we are wholeheartedly committed to supporting our fellow Singaporeans, the communities we call home, and making a meaningful and lasting impact.”
Since 1912, Nestlé Singapore has been nourishing Singaporeans through quality brands and products like MILO, MAGGI, NESCAFÉ and KitKat. Being a staunch supporter of many national initiatives, Nestlé Singapore has worked closely with government agencies and stakeholders to foster wellness and a healthy, nutritious and sustainable lifestyle for Singaporeans. These include being one of the pioneers that launched the Healthier Choice Symbol (HCS) programme with the Health Promotion Board; collaborating on the rollout and educational efforts for HCS, sugar and sodium reduction and Nutri-Grade schemes; being the first mover to launch groundbreaking products e.g. the world’s first MILO Gao Kosong (zero added table sugar) made in Singapore; and supporting the National Environment Agency’s key initiatives e.g. Recycle Right campaign. Our brands have also always supported community activities such as walks and grassroots events that are aligned with our purpose.
As part of efforts to improve functional food security for the betterment of Singaporeans in terms of nutrition and sustainability, Nestlé Singapore and its R&D Centre partnered Kosmode Health Singapore Pte Ltd to repurpose spent barley grains into protein fibre ingredients. This initiative was recognised with the “Most Transformational Collaboration” Award 2023 by the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce.
Nestlé Singapore is committed to providing equal opportunities for all and creating workplaces where everyone feels included. Under our global Nestlé Needs YOUth programme, we have diverse pathways to nurture our next generation of leaders which include our fast-track Nestlé Internship Leap Programme and Nestlé Internship Programme for undergraduates, and our Nestlé Management Trainee Programme – an accelerated management programme to develop high potential individuals as future leaders. We also have in place initiatives that support holistic well-being such as our ‘Pets at Work’ initiative, allowing employees to bring their pets to work.
To further enhance Singaporeans’ quality of life, our employees actively volunteer for various community initiatives through the year, e.g. cooking and distributing meals to Willing Hearts’ beneficiaries; contributing to beach/riverside clean-ups; and raising employees’ sustainability awareness with visits to Semakau Landfill.
Looking ahead, Nicole added, “Our ultimate goal is to leave a lasting legacy of positive change, not only for ourselves but for the entire nation. We recognise that true success lies in collaboration with like-minded partners who share our vision. Together, we can achieve more and unlock the full potential of Singapore, creating a brighter and more prosperous future for all.”
