Winner Lowers Cholesterol By MASSIVE 32% With 'Let's Beat Cholesterol' Challenge
In October, NESTLÉ NESVITA OMEGA PLUS ActiCol launched its very first “Let’s Beat Cholesterol” Challenge in conjunction with World Heart Day.

Through this campaign, NESTL NESVITA OMEGA PLUS ActiCol hopes to raise awareness that cardiovascular disease is the Number 1 killer in Singapore, educate the public on the risk factors of heart diseases and to empower Singaporeans to “know their hearts” better.

At the launch event for the ‘Let’s Beat Cholesterol”challenge in September, we partnered People’s Association and Singapore Heart Foundation to bring free health checks to encourage Singaporeans to know their hearts better and more importantly work proactively towards their better heart health while at the same time, recruit contestants for the challenge. We also launched the “Omega Know Your Heart” Index, jointly developed with a leading cardiologist and introduced a pocket sized health card designed to encourage record keeping of health information such as their BMI.

We also threw the challenge to the public to take up the 4-week challenge to lower the cholesterol, simply by drinking 2 glasses of NESTLÉ NESVITA OMEGA PLUS ActiCol daily. Those who took up the challenge stood to walk away with $10,000 worth of prizes, not to mention a cleaner bill of health.

This event was graced by Dr Amy Khor, Mayor of South West District, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC. She was in high praise of our efforts to educate public at large and empower them to take better care of their heart health.

For the campaign, we invited Mr Tan Boon Huat, Ex Chief Executive Director of the People’s Association and Ms Chua Leelian LOVE 97.2FM DJ as our brand ambassadors. Both took up a 4-week challenge by adopting a healthier lifestyle and drinking 2 glasses of NESTL NESVITA OMEGA PLUS ActiCol daily. At the end of 4 weeks, both ambassadors recorded a significant drop in their cholesterol levels. Ms Chua Leelian’s cholesterol level dropped 24% from 215mg/dl to 163mg/dl while Mr Tan Boon Huat’s from 219mg/dl to 160mg/dl, a significant reduction of 27%.

38 contestants with high cholesterol level qualified for the challenge. Of these, 15 contestants advanced to the finals. All had registered significant improvement in their cholesterol level. In fact 80% of them managed to lower their cholesterol level by at least 15%.

Ms Ng Chew Mooi emerged as the winner with the largest percentage drop of 32% in her cholesterol level - from 230mg/dl to 152mg/dl. With her personal experience, she now not only continues to drink her NESTL NESVITA OMEGA PLUS ActiCol faithfully, she actively encourages family and friends to do likewise too.
